Same error, a little box that said it couldn't find AcroRead.msi
Control panel Remove Programs did the same.
A file search found:

Finally found a cleanup utility here here
Make sure that you download the appropriate version
It's a zip file so unpack it and run the exe
Same error box came up but clicking cancel worked
One reboot later and Acrobat Reader XI had gone, now to install Acrobat Reader DC; what an excellent name.
